Pursuing the research started with its first event « Street Art, Contours et Détours », the Nice Street Art Project is pleased to announce a second edition focusing on street art and poetry to be held September 22-24, 2016 in Nice. The conference is open to the general public at no cost within the limit of available seats.
SPECIAL GUEST SPEAKER: ERNEST PIGNON-ERNEST
Ernest Pignon-Ernest (1942) is a plastician born in Nice. Known for pasting drawings and serigraphs in the streets of many cities, he is considered as one of the precursors of street art in France. Since he started working in the streets, he has established a constant connection with poets by representing the figures of Rimbaud, Genet and Pasolini—among many others— so as to remind of their legacy.
SPECIAL GUEST: NIELS SHOE MEULMAN
Niels Meulman (1967) is a contemporary artist based in Amsterdam whose work blending calligraphy and graffiti can be called visual poetry. Internationally known under the nickname ‘Shoe', Meulman revolutionized the European art of graffiti in the 1980s with his signature style that invites to reconsider the act of writing.
